Road Rage Rampage: Waterbury Man Arrested After Shell Station Meltdown

After a confrontation outside Machiavelli's, police said Joshoel Mullen pulled into the Shell Station on Main Street and proceeded to start a fight, punching three people and stabbing two others.

A Waterbury man is facing multiple assault charges after police said he became extremely violent at a Southington gas station this week, assaulting multiple individuals and stabbing two of them in the back.

Joshoel Mullen, 28, of Waterbury, turned himself into police following multiple attempts to contact him on Wednesday. He was arraigned the following day in Bristol Superior Court on a multitude of charges including two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of third-degree assault and five counts of second-degree breach of peace.

Police said Friday that Mullen was involved in a confrontation with several individuals outside Machiavelli’s on Center Street on July 21. The incident was quickly broken up, however, and the individuals left.

Later in the evening, police said Mullen approached those who had been in the confrontation at a nearby Shell Station on Main Street and proceeded to start a fight. During the fight, he allegedly punched three people in the face and used a knife to stab two others in the back.

The incident left several injured, including a male who was taken to Waterbury Hospital by ambulance where he was treated an released and a second man, who went by private vehicle to the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain General. Mullen also allegedly punched a woman in the face, rendering her unconscious, police reports stated.

Detectives investigating the case applied for a warrant and made efforts to locate Mullen at his home, known spots where he frequented in Southington and several additional locations in Waterbury.

After searching all day, police said the department received a call from Mullen’s attorney, who confirmed the warrant and Mullen eventually turned himself in.

During the investigation, it was learned that Mullen is currently on probation with the United States Probation Department, police said. He was later taken into federal custody.
