Search Continues, Silver Alert Issued for Missing 67-Year-Old

Police, friends and family continue to search for Harold Smith, who has been missing for two days now.

Southington police are continuing to search for a 67-year-old Southington man who has been missing since Wednesday morning.

The department issued a silver alert Thursday and reached out to the public, hoping to assist family and friends in locating Harold Smith, who was last seen at his Little Fawn Road home around 10:30 Wednesday morning. The search involved officers, friends, neighbors and family members Thursday but no leads were found regarding his whereabouts.

"Smith is very social and is known to frequent the businesses in both  downtown Southington and Plantsville. Smith also spends a great deal of time walking the linear trail in Southington," Lt. Michael Baribault said Thursday.

Smith is a white male, standing approximately five feet, wight inches tall and weighing approximately 210 pounds. He has gray hair and hazel colored eyes, wearing glasses.

"The family was not sure what Smith was wearing when he left the home, but they did say he almost always wears black sneakers with white socks," Baribault said.

Smith cannot read or write but he does recognize his name, police said, but has his wallet on his person with emergency numbers located inside. He frequents the downtown Southington area and Plantsville Center section of Southington.

Police said Smith is mentally challenged and it is important that he is located soon.

Anyone with information or who sees Smith is asked to call the Southington Police Department at (860) 621-0101.
