Southington Man Charged After Pulling a Gun During an Argument

Police said Monday that Michael Badgley showed a handgun during an argument and waved it around, threatening to shoot the victim in front of a child.

A South End Road resident is facing charges after police said he pulled a handgun out during an argument last week and threatened to shoot another Southington resident while a child was present.

Officers took Michael Badgley, 25, into custody following the incident, which the department has classified as a “domestic case.” Badgley, of 1081 South End Road, is facing charges of first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree threatening, disorderly conduct and risk of injury to a minor.

Police said despite the threats, there were no injuries in the incident and the handgun was recovered and taken in as evidence.

Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said Monday that officers were called following the argument on June 23. Badgley had allegedly “chest bumped” the victim during a verbal argument then proceeded to pull out a gun and wave it in the air, threatening to shoot the unnamed victim.

A child was present at the time of the incident, police said.

Further details of the case were not immediately available. Badgley posted a $50,000 bond following his arrest and is due in Bristol Superior Court later this month.
