Thursday’s arrest logs provided by the Southington Police Department sent a clear message to area residents: if you are speeding, you will pay the price.
Officers issued a total of 26 tickets for speeding violations, many of these in high traffic areas or school zones, as part of a proactive effort to prevent accidents – but police were also kept busy with several DUI cases, a criminal impersonation arrest and an arrest stemming from possession of weapons in a motor vehicle.
The reported the following arrests:
Sept. 2
Leonardo Carattini, 32, of 289 Scott Road in Waterbury, was charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence, operating a motor vehicle under suspension and following too close, Sept. 2.

Sept. 4
Marcin P. Szwedo, 24, of 63 Terrace Lane in Meriden, was charged with criminal impersonation, interfering with an officer, operating a motor vehicle under suspension and failure to have stop lamps, Sept. 4.
Debra M. Mastrianni, 53, of 65 Burritt St. in Plantsville, was charged with driving under the influence, Sept. 4.
David Diaz, 46, of 41 Coe Road in Wolcott, was charged with failure to respond to an infraction, Sept. 4.
George L. Olsen III, 20, of 77 Autran Drive in Southington, was charged with possession of weapons in a motor vehicle and disorderly conduct, Sept. 4.
