Southington Teen Arrested in Stabbing, Robbery of Bristol Resident

Police said an 18-year-old remains in custody after stabbing a Bristol woman in her hand and taking an envelop of cash Thursday afternoon.

A Bristol woman is recovering from injuries after she was stabbed in the hand after she was robbed at knifepoint and an 18-year-old Southington resident is facing charges including armed robbery following an incident at the intersection of Beecher Street and Hill Street Thursday afternoon.

Officers took Javier Arroyo, 18, of 125 Howard Ave. into custody shortly after the incident was reported. He remains in police custody at the , although the charges he will face remain unclear.

He will be facing charges of robbery and assault, police said, but further details were not immediately available.

Police were called to the intersection just before 2 p.m. from an unidentified male reporting a car was stopped and a woman inside was bleeding. Officers arrived to find a 21-year-old Bristol resident with a stab wound to the hand.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to the Hospital of Central Connecticut’s Bradley Campus for treatment. She is expected to make a full recovery, police said.

A 26-year-old Plainville woman who was also in the car at the time was not injured in the incident, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, who was driving at the time, had just picked up Arroyo, the brother of one an acquaintance, from a home along Beecher Street. Police said he proceeded to rob her of an envelope containing cash at knifepoint and then fled back toward his home.

The investigation remains open and police are not releasing any additional information at this time.
