Southington's Daly, Connecticut Chiefs Take Aim at Holiday Safety

The holiday season is a time for friends and family, but the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association wants to make sure everyone take precautions to keep these holidays a happy one.

The video was provided by the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association and is intended as a public service announcement.

You hear it every year - don't drink and drive, get a designated driver if you are drinking and be safe. But reinforcement of this holiday message can make the difference.

Southington Police Chief Jack Daly, Berlin Police Chief Paul Fitzgerald and other chiefs across the state are coming together to not only send the message, but make others think about the best way to keep all their friends and family safe while throwing holiday parties.

"The holidays are a time for friends and families to get together and celebrate, but we want to come forward every year to assure that it remains a celebration," said Daly, president of the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association, in a previous interview. "Our goal is to make sure we don't have to respond to a tragic accident."

The message this year includes a look at how to help others avoid drinking and driving during that holiday party, including tips such as stop serving alcohol two hours in advance to the party ending.
