Suspect Is Charged for Heroin Sales in Southington


A Plainville man has been arrested by the Southington Police Department's Narcotics Enforcement Team following an investigation of heroin trafficking in town.

According to a police statement, officers arrested Fernando Vasquez, 22, of Plainville, in Bristol while he was meeting with his probation officer. Police conducted a several month long investigation into Vasquez selling heroin in and around the Town of Southington.

Police obtained three arrest warrants were issued for his arrest, each charging him with Sale of Narcotics. The charges stem from alleged drug sales made in April, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.

Vasquez remains in custody even though bond was reduced from $100,000 to $50,000 on each charge and Vasquez is scheduled to return to court July 14, according to the Judicial Branch.

Police said that during their investigation it was found that Vasquez was currently serving probation for a previous drug-related conviction.
