Two Found Dead in Southington Home

A welfare check at a Cedar Drive home led police to discover two dead inside the house. Police have initiated an investigation after the deaths were considered "suspicious."

Police are investigating the deaths of two individuals found inside a Cedar Drive home in Southington Wednesday and sources within the department said the deaths are considered to be "suspicious."

Officers went to the home, located at 27 Cedar Drive in Southington, around 3 p.m. Wednesday after a delivery man reported that a pile of newspapers had been building up outside the front door.

When officers arrived, they found evidence that someone was inside but the home was locked and no one was responding to the front door.

"Officers responded to the scene and found the exterior of the home secure. The Southington Fire Department was summoned to the scene to assist the officers with gaining entry into the home," Southington Police Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said. "Once entry was gained, the officers found two deceased individuals inside the home."

Dobratz said the department's detective division is working alongside the State Police Major Crime Squad in actively investigating the incident. Police have not said what the cause of death may have been.

Police have still not identified the two people found at the home, but officers have confirmed that the home is owned by William P. Gillan Jr., as indicated in Southington property records.

The house also served as the home of Mildred Gillan, William's mother, according to 411.com.

No further information was released Wednesday night.
