Two in Southington Charged with Cultivating Marijuana

The two men, ages 24 and 39, are facing various charges after police found them participating in a marijuana growing operation as part of a multi-town investigation.

Joint police work with neighboring Farmington detectives helped land two men behind bars that Southington officers said were taking part in an extensive marijuana growing and sales operation in the area.

Detectives arrested Kyle Lebel, of 200 Wonx Spring Road in Plantsville, and Jeffrey Mazeika, of 171 Rethal St. in Southington, in late September following the joint investigation with the Farmington Police Department.

The 24-year-old Lebel and 39-year-old Mazeika were each arraigned in Bristol Superior Court last week on charges including cultivation of marijuana, possession of more than four ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, possession with the intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said the two were identified as part of an investigation that last week led Farmington police to find more than five pounds of marijuana inside a Two Mile Road home.

Farmington police arrested Bruce Bisi, 68, of 44 Two Mile Road, on Sept. 25 after officers, acting on a search and seizure warrant, found "large quantities of marijuana that had been cut down from the marijuana stocks" in his yard as recently as that day, according to a press release from the Farmington Police Department.

The plants "were strewn about the residence in various stages of processing and packaging for resale," police said.

Details of the investigation in Southington were not immediately available, but police said the two had “well in excess of just four ounces.”

Both men are due in court later this month after posting bond, police said.
