An arrest has been made and weapons have been recovered as the lockdown continues at University of New Haven's West Haven campus, according to WFSB.

Original Story

The University of New Haven (UNH) West Haven branch is on lockdown Tuesday afternoon for reports of a possible armed man on campus.

The university sent out an emergency message on their Twitter account just before 1 p.m. Tuesday telling students to “shelter in place [all caps] and await further instructions.”

The Tweet stated that the West Haven Police Department was searching for “an Asian male near South Campus with what appears to be a rifle.”

The
New Haven Register is reporting that police might have a suspect in custody but the shelter in place order has yet to be lifted.

Nearby elementary schools — Forest Elementary and Carrigan Intermediate — have also been advised to shelter in place, according to WFSB, and Nortre Dame High School in West Haven was on lockdown.
