Campaign Notebook: McMahon, Murphy Seek Female Voters

Senate

The Nov. 6 elections are almost hear, and both Linda McMahon and Chris Murphy are doing what they can to win over female voters.

According to Reuters
, McMahon rarely mentions her tenure as CEO for World Wrestling Entertainment. Murphy has described McMahon as anti-abortion, but doesn’t focus on the WWE.

Reuters reports:

A Quinnipiac survey released this week suggests Murphy might be winning the argument. After weeks of polling neck-and-neck with McMahon, he was ahead 49 percent to 43 percent, and taking a double-digit lead among women.
McMahon's campaign pointed to two other polls that called the race a dead heat.

Fifth District

Elizabeth Esty doubled down on her support of “Obamacare” in the hopes it will win her the election. According to CT News Junkie, Esty spoke in support of the Affordable Care Act at a press conference.

Her opponent, Andrew Roraback, hopes to repeal the law.

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D) is planning to visit the Pennslyvania Globe Gaslight Company in North Branford on Monday. She said on Twitter, “Manufacturing is crucial to CT's econ, middle class.”

Wayne Winsley (R)
plans to attend a forum on Oct. 30 at 12:30 p.m. at the West Haven Senior Center.

Fourth District

The Hartford Courant called the Fourth District race between Jim Himes and Steve Obsitnik, “largely tame and cordial” compared to the heated race in the Fifth District. The Courant notes that the key differences between the two candidates is pertains to the economy.
