Governor Launches Hurricane Irene Website

State website ct.gov/irene offers up-to-date information on Hurricane Irene, its potential track, and other resources relating to the looming storm that officials say could hit Connecticut Sunday.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy's office annouched Thursday afternoon that it had launched a website for residents about , which experts say could bring dangerous winds, heavy rains, and flooding to Connecticut on Sunday. 

The site is ct.gov/irene.

The website lists emergency announcements, weather updates, and offers other hurricane-related resources. The Governor also recommended that residents sign up for emergency e-mail or text message notification through CT Alert at ct.gov/ctalert/site/default.asp.

"I’m committed to keeping residents up-to-date about our state’s preparations, and in the case of an evacuation or other event, we’ll make sure people know where to go, and when," Malloy said in a statement.

He recommended residents prepare for the possible storm now.

“The time to prepare is now. If the storm hits us, it’s too late to get the materials, food and water you might need, particularly if the state experiences wide-spread loss of power," Malloy said.
