Gregory Klimaszewski to be Named Assistant Town Attorney

Members of the Southington Republican Town Committee have selected Southington attorney Gregory A. Klimaszewski to serve as the assistant town attorney.

Southington Town Council Chairman John Dobbins and Brian Callahan, chairman of the Southington Republican Town Committee, said Klimaszewski will be appointed during Monday’s council meeting and will take on responsibilities effective immediately following the appointment. He was selected from a list of several potential candidates, Callahan said.

“Greg is a businessman in town and has been an active member of the community for years,” Callahan said. “He’s a good attorney who is active within the party and we felt he would be a great choice for the position. He was selected by unanimous vote.”

Klimaszewski is a partner at Foran & Klimaszewski, located at 176 N. Main St. in Southington, and currently serves as a member of the Southington Board of Water Commissioners.

in November, coming in third in overall voting with 3,564 votes. Due to the need for one seat to go to the Democratic Party, however, the seat went to Kevin Conroy.

Klimaszewski could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday evening.

Dobbins said Thursday that although he is currently serving on the Board of Water Commissioners, it is not considered a conflict of interest because the board is separate from town government and he will not be required to resign.

“We spoke with () Leslie Cotton and the is a separate entity, so there is no conflict of interest in this case,” Dobbins said.

Klimaszewski will be appointed Monday at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at .
