Inside the Numbers: Middle School Feasibility

When the Board of Education meets again on March 24, it will be charged with selecting a student enrollment size to provide architects with Fletcher Thompson in order to move forward with the middle school feasibility project.

The decision they make will need to meet the town’s needs for the next 30 years, staff with Fletcher Thompson said, and projections have made it difficult to come to a decision as building too large could cost the town millions.

The following projections are those provided for grades 6 through 8 by the New England School Development Council, along with the most recent enrollment figures as provided by the Southington School District:
