Public Utility Companies, Yarde Metals Leads List of Top Taxpayers
Take a look at the top taxpayers in Southington in 2012.
With more than $67 million in personal property located in Southington, Connecticut Light and Power remains the town's top taxpayer, but investments in Yarde Metals over the past couple years have led the company to bypass Yankee gas for the number two spot in the community.
The annual Grand List released last Thursday showed net gains in the community of 0.45 percent overall, with real estate growing by $10.75 million and personal property growing by $1.73 million.
The list includes a number of large taxpayers in the community, including CL&P, Yarde Metals, Target and more.
While CL&P remains the top taxpayer at tens of millions in assessable property over any other company, there has been growth with others in the community including Yarde Metals, which jumped to $16.03 million in total assests during 2012.

The top real estate owner in 2012 was Lexington Southington LP, a company that owns the property at 200 Executive Boulevard, located just off of West Street near Interstate 84.
