Referendum Passes in Landslide, Republicans Take All Boards

As numbers come in, Republicans sweep local elections.

Numbers show a landslide victory and sweep of majority on all boards for the Republican party in Southington.

Democrats John Barry and Christopher Palmieri lead vote getters on the Town Council level, but the Republicans pulled away with a 6-3 victory as Democrats Susan Locks, John Moise and Kevin Beaudoin fell below the level for election.

On the Board of Education, newcomers Terry Lombardi and Zaya Oshana were among the top four while the remaining seven remaining seats are currently being held by incumbents. The totals give the Republicans a 6-3 majority on the board.

Board of Finance incumbents John Leary, Joe Labieniec, Edward Pocock Jr. and Wayne Stanforth look to remain in office with leads in the race, while Anthony Casale Jr. and Sandra Feld currently hold vacant Democrat seats.

Planning and Zoning seats belong to Republicans Paul Champagne and James Macchio, as well as Louis Angellilo Jr.

The figures provided are unofficial but with only 300 absentee ballots are not likely to change.
