Republican Legislators to Hold Town Hall Meeting Leading to Spring Session

A town hall meeting will give State Sen. Joseph Markley, State Rep. Rob Sampson and State Rep. Al Adinolfi a chance to hear residents thoughts and discuss what to expect during the upcoming legislative session.

Taxes, state deficits, town needs, transportation - these are just a taste of the topics likely to come up on Jan. 16 when Southington's Republican legislators host a public forum to hear from residents before the upcoming session.

Republican State Sen. Joe Markley and state representatives Al Adinolfi and Rob Sampson will come together in the Council Chambers at Southington Town Hall, inviting members of the public to share their thoughts and concerns prior to heading to Hartford for the spring session.

"The goal is to hear from the public and help legislators address the needs presented by residents," Markley said of the upcoming session. "We hope residents will be active in attending."

In the past couple years, taxes, transportation and state spending have proved to be the primary topics of the Town Hall Meetings.

Residents have expressed a desire for a clearer plan from the state regarding spending, funding to towns and a reduction in taxes that continue to press taxpayers during tough economic times.

The session, on Thursday, Jan. 16, is open to the public. The session runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and individual questions will be addressed, legislators said.
