Schools Moving Forward with Sale of Beecher Street Property

A committee has determined three finalists to choose from as they prepare to sell the Board of Education administrative office building.

At Issue

— The town is moving forward with a plan to sell the 100-year-old Board of Education property at 49 Beecher Street as the administrative offices plan a move to the North Center School.

What's Next

— A committee will meet Monday morning to select from three real estate finalists to determine the best way to proceed in selling the property, which is zoned as a residential property although the building is currently used as Board of Education administrative offices.

Finalists include Matthews Commercial Properties of Waterbury, Realty 3 of Southington and Calabrese Agency of Waterbury.

The three principals will be present during the Monday meeting to provide a plan which includes details of how they would plan to proceed.

‘Speaking’ of...

— “The intent of the invite is to have each agency present a marketing plan, what they would list the property at and what they would ask back for it,” said School Superintendent Joseph V. Erardi Jr.

“There were five proposals that came in and we’ve narrowed it down to three,” sid Fred Cox, director of operations for Southington Schools.
