All of Southington's public schools will be closed both Monday and Tuesday as Hurricane Sandy moves in to the region.
The Southington School District announced the closure on its website Sunday.
The move is just one of a few preparations Southington officials are making Sunday.
Southington Town Manager Garry Brumback encourages residents to check its website for all important information on the storm and to stay in touch with Southington's Facebook and Twitter accounts.
The town hasn't yet decided to open its emergency shelter, which is normally the Calendar House at 388 Pleasant St. in Southington.
"We've got everything prepared for it and are getting everything ready, but we're going to wait before we decide to open the shelter," Brumback said.
