Town Clerk Retiring After 20 Years

Leslie Cotton will not seek reelection in November.

Leslie Cotton is resigning her post as Southington Town Clerk after 20 years, the Record Journal reported Tuesday.

Cotton, reportedly leaves the position to spend more time with her husband and possibly to travel. A six-year term, which the town clerk position is elected to, would be too much, she said.

Cotton reportedly recommended the Republican Town Committee endorse Kathy Larkin to take over the position, since Larkin has worked in the town clerk’s office for decades. Republican committee Chair Brian Callahan agreed but said it was too early to make a decision, the Journal reported.
