OTHER MAJOR EVENTS

Southington "Safety Forum" hosted by the Board of Education
Monday, Oct. 17, 7 p.m., at the  , 820 Marion Ave., in Plantsville

The 90-minute forum will include administrative updates on safety and a focus on Connecticut’s new bullying legislation. Parents and community members are encouraged to attend to share their thoughts on how Southington schools should best handle safety issues and bullying concerns.

Sloper After School Program
Tuesday, Oct. 18, after school until 6 p.m. at C, 1000 East St.
The program will be a drop-in event open to all middle school and high school teens in Southington. If you’re a Southington teen or pre-teen, the Sloper After School program will allow you to take advantage of some of the great recreational facilities the YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center has to offer. This program is available to all Southington residents, both YMCA members and non-members.

“Get Out the Word” Middle School Informational Open House
Thursday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m., in the auditorium at , 385 Pleasant St.

From School Superintendent Joseph V. Erardi Jr.: Our “Get the Word Out” informational initiative pertaining to the middle school project will include two opportunities for community members to tour either site.

Town Council Candidate Debate
Thursday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m., at the , 388 Pleasant St.
The first-ever Town Council Candidate Debate sponsored by the Legislative Committee will serve as a platform to provide town council candidates to show what they stand for to the voting public at large. A neutral-partisan member of the League of Women will serve as moderator.

“Knight Music”
Saturday, Oct. 22, 5 – 9 p.m. at Boyle Stadium, 55 Strawberry Hill Ave. in Stamford.
Southington High School Marching Band will be competing in the "Knight Music" marching band competition sponsored by Stamford High School. Fourteen bands are participating. The performance schedule will be posted to the US Scholastic Bands site at http://trigonroad.com/yea/eventInfo.cfm?id=352 by Tuesday.
