Tree Debris Pickup Planned along State-Maintained Roads

State's Debris Management Program is announced

The Connecticut Department of Transportation just announced that, starting Saturday, property owners on state roads or abutting state-maintained roads can place brush five feet from the edge of the state roads to be picked up within days or weeks. That includes roads like Rt. 10, 44, 167 and 177.

The state developed the Debris Management Program to quicken the tree debris pickup process for major storms like the October 2011 Snowstorm. Residents should not place debris near utility poles, wires, fire hydrants, mailboxes or overhanging trees. Pickup will run through Dec. 15. A schedule will be posted soon. More information is available on the Connecticut Department of Transportation website.
