What's Open, What's Closed on Memorial Day

Today is a federal and state holiday as local residents are asked to remember those who gave their lives serving our country. Take a look at what's open and what's closed on memorial Day, May 28.

May 28 is considered a government holiday, both state and federal, in observance of Memorial Day. State and local government offices are closed but many retail businesses are remaining open.

Take a moment and check out what's open and what's closed to help you plan ahead before you start your summer off this Memorial Day:

  • Liquor Stores: Open (for the first time, under the new law.)

  • Southington Parks: Open

Many state beaches and pools are also opening for the season this weekend. In Southington, is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and other parks are open dawn until dusk, but the pools at and are not yet operating.
