Visions for Vacancies: What Does Southington Need?

We've traveled across towns and looked at locations one at a time. Now we are opening it up for you: what would you want to see come to Southington and where would you put it?

Let's get a little more creative than usual. This week, Southington Patch is offering something of an "open choice" for our readers. We want to hear what you would have come to town and where the best place for it would be.

Let's call this a modern spin on community planning - Patch's version of a charette, a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

Each week we'll present a new vacant building and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon that puts people most to sleep. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

There has been some concern expressed over what zoning would allow. How can that be changed?

But more importantly what store, restaurant, museum or recreational offering is Southington lacking and where would you put it in the community? Give us your best take.
