Activate Southington Hosts Walk or Bike to School Day

The second annual event has expanded to include now both town middle schools as Activate Southington looks to increase student activity and promote health and wellness.

 The following was submitted by Tim Dupuis, representative of Image Marketing Consultants on behalf of Activate Southington.

Activate Southington, a community group with the ongoing initiative to improve the overall health and wellness of Southington residents, is hosting their second annual Walk and Bike to School Day at both and middle schools next week.

The event will help volunteers show students the benefits of taking a more active route to school during the morning of May 17.

Participants are encouraged to walk or bike from their homes, and also have the option of meeting at designated locations to walk or bike with a group of other students and volunteers including teachers, parents, and various other town representatives.

Students participating will be welcomed at each school by teachers and other volunteers and an event consisting of music, snacks, refreshments, a raffle for with chance to win an Ipod Nano and various other prizes.
