Celebrating the Arts
Students at ALTA were honored for their artistic achievement last week.
The following was provided by Jeanne Chmielewski, publicist and adult program coordinator for Southington Public Library.
The Library Cafe was filled with ALTA students, family and friends on Thursday, Feb. 16, as they celebrating the students as "Artists of the Month."
Town Councilman Al Natelli presented the students with the Town Council Citation recognizing their work. The exhibit will be on display in the Gallery through the end of February or visit the library on facebook to view the art.
The arts are essential to every child's education, similar to English, math, science and the other core subjects, the arts are challenging subjects. In addition to studying the arts for their own sake, experiencing and making works of art benefits students in their intellectual, personal, and social development.
