National Library Week 2011 Celebration The Value of Your Library Card and Technology Talks

Southington Library is encouraging the public to visit during National Library Week, April 11 through 15.  Staff members are planning morning “Technology Talks” to highlight all the free services that are available 24/7 to anyone with a Southington Library card.  Demonstrations will include how to navigate the Southington Library website to view our calendar, research databases, review your patron record, link to archives of the Southington Observer, sign up for the library e-Newsletter or Children’s blog, and much more.  Come to the Café Area from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. informational handouts will also be available, including “Calculate the Value of Your Library Card”. 

Wednesday April 13th “Snapshot Day” – One day in the life of Connecticut libraries is a project of the Connecticut Library Association, the Connecticut State Library and the Connecticut Library Consortium.  Share your comments about your library.

  • 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., a representative from Library Connections will demonstrate how to download free audio books and eBooks discuss using our new online digital resource with free access to popular e-books and audio books directly from you homes and offices.  Handouts will be available with more information.
  • 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Southington Chamber Singers present a free concert, “Songs We Love to Sing”. Featured selections include Harold Arlen’s Stormy Weather and George Gershwin’s Embraceable You, favorite American and English folksongs and some madrigals as well.

  • Login into the library website to register for programs, workshops, seminars

All for FREE

Light refreshments will be provided. Southington Bertucci’s has offered a limited number of discount coupons to anyone who sits in on a “Technology Talk”.
