Honoring Student Achievement

Many of Southington's high school graduates have moved on to secondary education and found success – take a look at some of the latest high achievers.


At , we believe that recognizing success is an important part of being active in the community. We provide the latest, most up-to-date news on a regular basis but today we are taking a break to put spotlight on some of the high achievers in the community.

Over the past several weeks, we have received numerous press releases and updates regarding those who have gone on to college and achieved great things.

The following students and Southington residents have been honored for making the Dean’s list at various universities. Take a moment to congratulate them in the comments sections below.

The University of Hartford is pleased to announce the following local students have been named to the Dean's List for Fall 2011: Ashley Berube, Pamela Budas, Katelyn Callahan, Jayna Dorau, Dylan Fallis, Jessica Fallis, Andrew Goldstein, Lea Nardi, Carl Pappalardo, Nancy Pascariello, David Fiondella and Gregory Prus.

Samantha Swartz, a resident of Southington, has earned the esteemed honor of placement on the Dean's List at the College of New Jersey (TCNJ) for the 2011 fall semester.

To achieve this honor, a student must carry 12 or more credits that semester and have a 3.5 grade point average or above.

The following students made the fall 2011 Dean's List at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield: Jacquelyn Charamut, Nicole Cole, Katherine Mala, Maeghan Risser, Alexa Wrinn and Laurie Radziwon.

Dr. Bashar Hanna, Delaware Valley College's Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty, announced that Claire Donahue has been honored for academic achievement by being named to the fall 2011 Dean's List.

Delaware Valley College is a four-year institution of higher education located in Doylestown, Pa.

The following students have been named to Dean's List at Western New England for the fall semester of 2011: Mitchell N. Veltri, Colleen M. Girouard, David E. Greenslade, Jeffrey D. Mazzamurro and Daniel Dietz.

Western New England University is a private, independent, coeducational institution founded in 1919.

Andrew Dominello has been honored with placement on the Dean's List at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., for the fall 2011 semester.

Wheaton is a highly selective liberal arts college located in Norton, Mass.

Western Connecticut State University has named the following students from Southington to the Dean’s List for fall 2011: Julia Bocek, Desiree Deprey, Ryan Klem, Jordan Orftelli, Kara Pescetelli, John Sokolowski and Rachel Volpe.

Marykate Scanlon has been named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester at the University of Vermont. To be named to the dean's lists, students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Chartered in 1791, UVM was the first college or university in the United States that did not give preference to a religious sect in its charter.
 
The following area residents were named to the dean's list for the Fall 2011 semester at Quinnipiac University: Alexandria Broytman, Melissa Hastie, Christina Mueller, Kaitlyn Rogalski, Julie Stolz, Kelsie Straub and Jillian Williams.

Keene State College has released the Dean's List for the fall semester 2011. Among the 1,501 students named to the Dean's List are: Chloe Nixon, Megan O'Doherty and Elizabeth Suzio.

Halina Jez of Southington has been named to the fall 2011 Dean's List at American International College in Springfield, Mass.

American International College in Springfield, Mass., is a four-year, private, coeducational institution founded in 1885.

Curry College's Chief Academic Officer David Potash announced the following Southington residents made the Dean's List for the fall 2011 term: Megan Cerreta and Kathryn Daddona.

Curry College is a 132-year old, private, four-year, liberal arts institution located on 135 acres in Milton, MA.

Kelsey Lang was named to the Dean's List at the State University of New York at New Paltz for the Fall 2011 semester.

Located in the heart of a dynamic college town, ninety minutes from metropolitan New York City, the State University of New York at New Paltz is a highly selective college of about 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
