Parent Volunteers Recognized for Raising Over $1 Million

School officials honor the efforts of town residents during a luncheon Thursday afternoon at Hawk's Landing Country Club.

Parent volunteers are the backbone of a successful school system, School Superintendent Joseph V. Erardi Jr. said, and on Thursday afternoon, those who contributed over the past year were recognized for going above and beyond to help improve public education.

Board of Education members and school administrators came together with 70 parent volunteers representing each of the town's schools for a thank-you luncheon Thursday afternoon at Hawk's Landing.

"The financial support alone that these volunteers provided totaled more than $1 million during the 2010-11 school year," Erardi said.
