Patch Achievers: DePaolo April Students of the Month

Each week we honor our best and brightest local children.

Name: Laura Calandra, Alexa Zborowski and Jonathan Gray.

Laura is the daughter of Gina and Joe Calandra and volunteered at Alex’s Lemonade Stand at the Apple Harvest Festival. She was a participant in the science fair, where she received honorable mention and she is in the drama club. Laura also plays in the school orchestra and was a part of her church play.

Alexa is the daughter of Tania and Adrian Zborowski and is part of the Leadership Program. She attends Saturday Ukranian School and takes Ukranian dancing.  Alexa also is in the school chorus and is on the YMCA swim team.

Jonathan is the son of George and Kelly Gray and was recognized at the Principal’s Breakfast. He has volunteered at Southington North Baseball Field for their clean-up and plays baseball and basketball for the town. Jonathan is on the school cross country team and in the stage band.

Name: Christian Aguayo, Rachel Bruno and Sarah Dolan.

Christian is the son of Madeline and Jose Aguayo and has consistently been an honor roll student. He volunteers at different church activities including helping in the nursery. Christian is a member of the student council and participates in the drama club for his church. 

Rachel is the daughter of Robert and Nancy Bruno and is in the National Junior Honor Society.  She helps run monthly tea parties for younger children raising money for Relay for Life. Rachel is in the drama club, Leadership Program, and the volleyball team at DePaolo.

Sarah is the daughter of Mary and James Dolan and is also a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She is in the school Leadership Program, the YMCA Leaders club and a Peer Advocate.  Sarah is also in the school chorus and plays soccer for the town.

Alexa is the daughter of Mr. Taylor and Ms. Gaioni and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She was recognized at the Principal’s Breakfast in both sixth and seventh grade and is a part of the Leadership Program. Alexa is a counselor at Vacation Bible School for her church and is a Junior Leader at the YMCA.

Benjamin is the son of Lynn-Ann and Reid Dunlap and Christopher and Joann Herms and is a part of the Mathcounts Program. He is a part of the Leadership Program and is in the Lego League. Ben takes private lessons for guitar and is a volunteer coach for Southington Midget Football League for fifth graders. 

Luke is the son of Carl and Kathy Pfanzelt and has consistently been an honor roll student. He is a volunteer assistant teacher at the town-wide tennis camp and participated in a Juvenile Diabetes walk. Luke was on the school soccer team and participated in the Leadership Program since sixth grade.

Name: Daniel Hackerman, Kays Cetin and Kyle Partiss.

Daniel is the son of Debra and David Hackerman and recently placed second in the school science fair. He plays saxophone in the school band, is in the ski club, and is a part of the Leaderhip Program. Daniel also studies karate.

Kays is the son of Lale and Irfan Cetin and recently participated in the Young Author’s Program. He is in the chess club at school and the Castle Craig photography club. Kays also plays football for the town and is on the yellow crush tennis team. 

Kyle is the son of Steve and Shannon Partiss and was recognized at two Principal’s Breakfasts. He is in the National Junior Honor Society and the Leadership Program. Kyle also plays intramural soccer at DePaolo.
