Accomplishment: Carolyn was awarded first-place for 4th grade students in the Hartford County Fire Prevention Contest.

Accomplishment: Brandon was awarded first-place for 5th grade students in the Hartford County Fire Prevention Poster Contest.
Key(s) to awesomeness: For the first time in school history, two Southington students have been able to use their artistic talents to take home first place in the county-wide fire prevention poster contest.
"Every year, a panel of firefighters judge more tha 1,000 entries from across town and these two not only were selected in Southington, but were both chosen to represent Hartford County in the state-wide contest at the end of March," said Fire Capt. Neil Casarella.
The two were honored during a Board of Education meeting in February after being chosen to represent the town and Board Chairman Brian Goralski said the town couldn't have been prouder of their accomplishments.
"I can't draw at all, so I can't even imagine what it took to create something that could represent the state of Connecticut as a whole," Goralski said.
