Accomplishment: Nicole, Sarah, Evan and Matt have been consistently attending the Teen Volunteer Day at YMCA Camp Sloper. This program on Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m. and gives teens an opportunity to fulfill community service hours for school or church and give back to the community.
A variety of projects and tasks that positively affect the lives of others in the Y and the community are undertaken by this dedicated group. During the winter months they have been helping in the office doing the preparation work for the upcoming camp season.
Key(s) to awesomeness: Volunteers play an important role in all the YMCA does, and at YMCA Camp Sloper we value each and every one of our volunteers. We are especially pleased to have teens that are willing to give up some of their free time each week to do something for others without expectation of any kind of compensation.
“When these students arrive they never know what they are going to be asked to do. Sarah, Nicole, Evan and Matt come prepared to take on whatever task they are assigned, be it inside or out. No matter what it is, they do it with a smile and work hard to complete it,” said Outdoor Center Program Director Pat Rosin, who oversees the Teen Volunteer Day Program.
“Volunteers are the key to success out here at YMCA Camp Sloper; they impact our programs and facilities each year in a very positive way. We would not be here today without them and are so grateful for the time and energy given to YMCA Camp Sloper by these young volunteers.”
