SHS Marching Band's Last Competition Takes 3rd Place

Hard-working band members give it their all

The Southington High School Marching Band did their best Saturday during the USSBA New England Championship competition in Bridgeport.

With a hectic week behind them of trying to stay warm without power, they put their best efforts into winning and came in third place.

Forty-one bands in all competed with Newton High School winning 2nd, and Dartmouth High School winning 1st place.

Congratulations to the SHS Marching Band for taking 2nd place in the state, and 3rd place overall in the Class V division for the New England State Championships. The difference in scores between Newtown High School (who won the state championship) and Southington High School was just .15. Eyes with Pride SHS!!

Not only was it a hectic week without power, with school being closed and the storm last weekend, the band missed several days of practice and last Saturday's performance when their home competition was cancelled. Yet they still came through with an awesome performance and received their highest score of the season. Go SHS Band, we are very proud of you.

The last performance of the SHS marching band show "Voodoo" was absolutely amazing...this season's "dark" themed music combined with a brilliant marching drill made for a show that was entertaining, captivating and well received by audiences across CT all season long. Taking first place at every prior competition, musicians, color guard, drum majors gave their best at each & every performance. It will certainly be a season to remember.
