St. Thomas Students Honored for Academic Achievements

Eight-graders Jameson Kief, Joseph Zacchia, Thomas Melvin and Megan Miller were honored last week for their academic excellence.

Parents, relatives and friends filled the auditorium to honor the 21 graduating eighth-graders from Saint Thomas School earlier this week.

One week prior to their graduation, the faculty, the Principal MaryPat Wirkus and Father Nick Melo recognized the students with highest GPA in each discipline taught in the middle school.

Receiving the award for math, science, literature, religion, history and geography was Jameson Kief, receiving the art award was Megan Miller, receiving the grammar award was Joseph Zacchia and receiving the award for most improved and excellent work in Spanish was Thomas Melvin.

Jameson and Joseph will be attending Xavier High School in the fall, Thomas will be attending St. Paul Catholic High School and Megan will be attending Mercy High School.

Jameson and Caleigh Waskowicz were recognized for attaining second honors in the Connecticut State Science Fair.
