'Students of the Month' Honored at DePaolo

The town's middle school staff has awarded 12 individuals for their exception efforts.

DePaolo Middle School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for March. 

In sixth grade, Trevor Dufresne, Andrew Krar and Evan Bender were selected by their teams. Trevor is the son of Jeff and Jodi Dufresne and won the Presidential Award in fifth grade. He volunteers for the Southington North Gems team and runs the scoreboard. He was a member of DePaolo’s cross-country and basketball teams and plays football, basketball and baseball for the town as well.

Andrew is the son of Gina and Michael Krar and was awarded the Academic Fitness award in fifth grade. He plays the baritone horn in the school band and is on the student council. Outside of school, Andrew is an alter server for his church and a Boy Scout.

Evan is the son of Scott and Debbie Bender and recently came in second place at DePaolo’s science fair.  He volunteers at St. Dominic’s Church and is on the Southington Stingrays swim team.  In addition, Evan is in the history club, stock market club and drama club at school.

In seventh grade, Jasmyne Engman, Megan Delorme and Allison Krampitz were selected by their teams. Jasmyne is the daughter of Iza Howes and Matt Engman and has consistently been an honor roll student. She has volunteered with CERT for blood drives, the hurricane shelter and a diabetes walk. Jasmyne is also a part of the drama club and is a peer mediator.

Megan is the daughter of Karen Griffin and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She assisted in the remodeling of DePaolo’s courtyard and took part in the Relay for Life. Megan is a cheerleader and sings in the school concert choir.

Allison Krampitz is the daughter of Richard and Kimberly Krampitz and has consistently been an honor roll student. She is a cheerleader and sings in the school chorus. Allison helped to raise funds for the dog pound and volunteered at Alex’s Lemonade Stand at the Apple Harvest Festival.

In eighth grade, Carter Krzesik, Bryan Massabni, and Marissa Drivdahl were selected by their teams. Carter is the son of Mike and Carmen Krzesik and has been an honor roll student during his three years at DePaolo. He plays on the Unified Sports basketball team and is in the movie club. Carter also enjoys playing baseball.

Bryan is the son of Monica Massabni and Camilo Echanique and is new to DePaolo this year. He is in the ski club and chess club, as well as enjoying basketball. 

Marissa is the daughter of Brian and Paula Drivdahl and has consistently been an honor roll student. She plays lacrosse in the winter, fall, and spring and has volunteered at Mulberry Gardens. Marissa is in the Leadership Program at DePaolo.

In Unified Arts William Ceruti, John Thompson, and Nathan Nagorski were selected. William is the son of Brian and Bridget Ceruti and has raised funds and participates in Southington’s Relay for Life. William also is part of the Coffey’s Crusaders team for an ALS walk and he plays travel soccer, basketball and baseball for the town. William is in the Leadership Program and ran on the school’s cross country team. 

John is the son of Tammy and John Thompson and was selected for DePaolo’s Mathcounts Program. John is in the chess club, Lego club and a library assistant. Outside of school, he likes to play basketball. 

Nathan is the son of Michael and Denise Nagorski and achieved first honors for term 1 and 2 this year. Nathan assists in the school library and helps the yellow team with recycling. Nate is in the sign language club and volunteered at Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
