Tiezzi, St. Dominic School Honored in Washington D.C.

The principal traveled to the U.S. capitol to receive the National Blue Ribbon Award at the 2012 ceremony.

In September, the Saint Dominic School’s Principal, Mrs. Patricia Tiezzi receives the news that her school has won the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award. Now is the time that she and Mrs. Noreen Adams, Literacy Specialist travels to Washington D.C. to attend the 30th Anniversary of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award Ceremony and receives the St. Dominic School’s National Blue Ribbon Award for Academic Excellence. 

On Monday, Nov. 12, Mrs. Patricia Tiezzi and Mrs. Noreen Adams were proud recipients of this Award.

“My experience was awesome. We met people from both public schools and private schools from across the country. We were able to network and share concerns and suggestions about the state of education in the United States,” Tiezzi said. “We heard from both the 2011 National Principal and Teacher of the Year.  They were enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about children and the need for all educators to do the same.”

She added, “The Sec. of Education and liaison from Senator-Elect Chris Murphy came by to congratulate us and took a picture of all the award recipients from the Connecticut schools district.” 

Saint Dominic School is one of three schools from the Hartford Archdiocese to receive this award this year. 

“We all shared in this  tremendous honor together and represented our Archdiocese with enthusiasm, pride and a sense of accomplishment.  When I was hired at Saint Dominic School the search committee wanted the school to be one of the best in the Archdiocese, six years later it is. Goal accomplished,” she stated.
