Southington Students Return to Class for First Day

School staff welcomed back students and parents during the first day of the 2011-12 school year Tuesday.

Students were filled with excitement at the Tuesday morning, sharing stories with friends as they entered the classrooms for the first time.

Across the district, Southington students celebrated the first day of school and Madison Buckley of Thalberg, a third-grade student who just moved to Southington from Wolcott, said she was excited for new opportunities.

"I'm looking forward to going into 3rd grade and meeting new friends," Buckley said.

Jessica Levin, mother of Trinity Rodriguez who is entering 3rd grade at Thalberg, said the first day of school is special this year, not just for her daughter bur herself as well.

"It means that (Trinity) is getting back into the swing of things and I can go back to school too," Levin said.
