A. With 28 years experience in the Town Clerk's office, I bring a sensitive, articulate, intelligent voice to town government where I have been dedicated to providing the residents of Southington excellent customer service.

Because of the rapid growth we are experiencing in this community, decisions being made now will affect us for many years. I have the qualifications, experience and skills that offer a seamless transition into the role of Town Clerk. This is a huge asset.

I have served as Deputy Town Clerk from 2006 to the present; Assistant to the Town Clerk from 1996 to 2006; Assistant Registrar of Vital Statistics; Assistant Clerk and Office Clerk.

Educational Programs: New England Municipal Clerks Institute and Academy, 2005-2008; Connecticut Town Clerk School, 1997-1999.

Certifications: International Institute of Municipal Clerks Certification, (CMC), 2010; Certified Connecticut Town Clerk, 1999;

Additionally, I am continuing with educational classes and courses in pursuit of my goal to obtain the certification of Master Municipal Clerk.

Q. What do you consider the two most important local issues and, if elected, how do you propose to address them?

A. With the busy schedules of individuals and families, it is difficult to make time for visits to the Town Hall.

I would like to formulate changes and continue expanding on information and services available on the town website and online for the ease and convenience of the residents.

Note: In addition to Kathy's vast experience in the Town Clerk's Office, she has been an integral part of the team effort in the major innovations in our Town Clerk's Office in the past two to three years and a close partner of our current Town Clerk, Leslie Cotton, who has led the effort to successfully re-design the Town website. Those efforts have brought our Town Clerk's Office into the technological culture of the 21st century and have successfully opened the path to a full service Virtual Town Hall where citizens will be able to take advantage of many municipal services without leaving home.
