Vote to Elect Rev. Victoria Triano to the Southington Town Coucnil

REV. VICTORIA TRIANO

Occupation: Director of Pastoral Care, Southington Care Center

Why are you running for office?

After serving Southington for 16 years on the Town Council, 6 years on the Board of Ethics and 3 years on the Commission on Disabilities, I still feel that there is much to do.  I would like to return to the Town Council and serve the people who have trusted me in the past to do what’s right in the future. We need an open, and viable Town Council, willing to not only listen but to act on behalf of the people who have placed them in office.  We need people who know this Town because they have given themselves to this Town through volunteerism, and charitable work, and service.  People who are invested in Southington long before they presume to govern.   When you have someone who serves out of love for the community, you have a leader who will do what’s right no matter the pressure, or the influence of others.  That’s real leadership, that’s what we need in Southington and I hope to bring that to the best of my ability.

  • What do you consider the two most important local issues and, if elected, how do you propose to address them?

    1. People should have a voice in issues that are important to them.  They should be an active participant in a town government that is supposed to represent them.  Too many times, we govern and make decisions that directly affect people without encouraging their voices to be heard.  I would like to help the people in Southington to find their voice.

  • Providing for the needs of our citizens while still maintaining a solid fiscal foundation is the primary responsibility of the Town Council.  Whether we are talking about the needs of our seniors, or educating our children, or repaving our roads, everything depends upon an economy for Southington that is alive and vibrant.  We must continue the work of economic development by bringing in and maintaining good clean businesses that build our tax base and will help us provide for all of our citizens without added burdens on the taxpayers.
