What do you consider the two most important local issues and, if elected, how do you propose to address them?

  1. Establishing more of a business base in town.  Southington has the advantage of being close to two major highways, and thus is centrally located.  By marketing Southington as a destination for business and through incentives and business enterprise zones, new business will be attracted to Southington.  This will increase the grand list, as well as bring new individuals to town as residents.

  • Cost containment.  It is important to continue to provide good services for our citizens; however, we, as the governing body in Southington, must endeavor to conserve our resources so as not to increase the tax burden both on the town side and the Board of Education side.  Consolidation of departments, as well as their assets and supplies is one venue to accomplish this.  In addition, for new initiatives, cost sharing and obtaining grants is essential.
