The Southington Blue Knights are seeing gold this holiday season and with a dominant showing in their first two playoff games this year, the team is in a strong position to bring home a state title.

Tickets will go on sale Thursday for the Dec. 14 championship game between Southington High School and the Fairfield Prep Jesuits. Tickets, available through the CIAC website or the Southington High School Athletics Department, are $10 per person, with those under 5 getting in free.

For the fourth-ranked Blue Knights, the run for a title has been a dominant one, as they have outscored opponents 97-14 en route to two blowout victories. The road to the title game has included a 52-14 win over Norwich Free Academy and a 45-0 performance over eighth-ranked Ridgefield.

The third and final playoff game may not be as easy, with underdog Fairfield Prep already having pulled off two upsets.

The #7 Jesuits beat second-ranked Glastonbury 33-23 before moving on to take a nail-biter 29-28 over the #6 West Haven last weekend.

Saturday's Championship contest, to be held at Central Connecticut State University's Arute Field, will begin at 1:35 p.m. Those attending earlier games will be allowed to stay for the duration of the championship day, according to the CIAC website.
