Southington Student Athletes Honored by Sports League

Kyle Connolly and Laura Wilcox were among many student athletes honored recently by the CAS-CIAC for their exemplary academic and athletic careers have been exemplary.

Each year, the league recognizes two seniors from each high school - one boy and one girl - whose personal standards and achievements are a model to others, and who possess high levels of integrity, self-discipline and courage.

Since its inception, the Annual Connecticut High School Scholar-Athlete Awards Program and Banquet has honored more than 4,000 outstanding graduating seniors in Connecticut high schools.

The banquet at the Aqua Turf in Plainville was sponsored by McDonald's. McDonald's is a 29-year sponsor of the program.

In addition to Connolly and Wilcox, this year's honorees from the area are:

• Maloney - Ivan Lukic, Jamie Erdman
• Platt - Peter Piech, Jillian Pascale
• Rocky Hill - Andrus Maandi, Megan Ruonavaara
• Wilcox Tech - Jose Delgado, Cassondra Acampora
