YMCA Skate Bash Leads to $200 Campership Donation

The competition and funday at the YMCA Camp Sloper Skate Park late last week drew many participants and helped provide money for camperships.

This past Thursday, over 70 local teens participated in a special Skate Bash at YMCA Camp Sloper sponsored by company Something Sick, Inc.

Highlights from the evening included two giveaway sessions with Something Sick giving away several pairs of sunglasses and socks, a skateboard deck, and a skating DVD, as well as two competitions, one event for kids 15-years-old and younger and a second for those over 16.

Each competition was a 5 minute “jam session” with 6 judges observing all the skaters and naming a winner for each event.

Sir-Michael Burrow won the 15 and under division and Tyler Pesino won the 16 and older division.
