Looking for a fun, free summer event for the kids in Southington this week? Why not enjoy some time letting them skate at the Skate Park while taking in the view at Sloper Pond?
On Thursday, Aug. 16, the YMCA Camp Sloper Skate Park will be opening up the gates an hour early for an event sponsored by the clothing company, Something Sick, Inc.
Typically, the summer hours for the YMCA Skate Park are Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., but for this event, the park will be open at 5 p.m.
Throughout the event the team from Something Sick, Inc. will play music, serve food, and host a variety of competitions and contests. Something Sick, Inc. will also have a merchandise tent where participants may purchase their new line of tee-shirts, sunglasses, and more.

Helmets are required for all skaters, and there is staff present during all open hours to ensure that every skater is following this safety policy. Additional padding is recommended to maximize safety.
All skaters must have a 2012 waiver form signed by a parent/guardian on file in order to skate. The YMCA Skate Park is free for all Southington residents and members of the Southington and Cheshire YMCAs who are in third-grade or older.
Parents must accompany all third- and fourth-graders during their time in the YMCA Skate Park. Contact Jay Jaronko, Outdoor Center Program Director, by phone at (860) 621-8194, ext. 308, or by e-mail at email@example.com with any questions.
