STEPS Car Show Set to Return for Second Year

Custom Coach, in partnership with STEPS, is now seeking vendors for the second annual show on Aug. 19.

The Second Annual Custom Coach Car Show is set to return on Aug. 19, an annual event designed to help benefit the Southington Town-Wide Effort to Promote Success, but before the classic cars and custom autos can take center stage, organizers need your help.

The annual show to benefit STEPS is seeking vendors to sell refreshments, memorabilia and other items to benefit the show said Susan Saucier, director of Southington Youth Services in Southington.

“This is the second year that Chris Calderola of has asked STEPS to be a partner,” she said. “Last year’s show ended up being on a drizzly day, so only a few vehicles showed up. Still the students enjoyed checking in the cars, selling T-shirts and water, and at the end, judging the cars and handing out the trophies.”

“Everyone is hoping for a sunny day, with many more cars, spectators and vendors,” Saucier said.

The show is being held at the Custom Coach shop at 2211 Meriden-Waterbury Road in Southington. Proceeds from the event will be benefitting STEPS, Southington’s Town wide Effort to Promote Success, a community prevention initiative, which seeks to prevent young people from engaging in risky behaviors and to promote youth and adult partnerships.

Besides various car contests, there will be also be a moon bounce for children and radio station WCCC 106.9, The Rock, will be broadcasting live. There is a small fee for cars to enter but admission is free for all others.

Custom Coach is still looking for vendors to sell refreshments and all kinds of other items. For space reservations or for more information contact Custom Coach at (860) 621-5514. A rain date for the event has been set for Sunday, Aug. 26.
