Two Arrested in Separate Larcenies, Another on DUI Charge

The Southington Police Department reported the following arrests: James N. Landry, 37, of 122 Pheasant Drive in Rocky Hill, was charged with disorderly conduct, May 10. Charles W. Ludlum, 57, of 29 South St. in Bristol, was charged with sixth-degree larceny, May 11. Patrick Joseph Popores, 26, of 6 W. Center St. in Southington, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, disorderly conduct and second-degree reckless endangerment, May 11. Vivek P. Sureddi, 28, of 259 Wood Pond Road in Cheshire, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain proper lane and operating an unregistered motor vehicle, May 12. Michael J. New Lieutenants Bring Leadership, Experience to Southington PD

With a combined total of 50 years of experience and a wealth of knowledge regarding Southington, recently promoted lieutenants Mike Baribault and Lowell DePalma bring a new energy to the department’s leadership team.

There isn’t much that longtime officers Mike Baribault and Lowell DePalma haven’t accomplished in their time as members of the Southington Police Department. In a lighter end of the week log for police, we have just two smaller incidents to report today. Police said each was released following booking on the charge with a promise to appear. The Southington Police Department reported the following arrests:  Ian E. Stewart, 18, of 262 Bristol St. in Southington, was charged with creating a public disturbance, May 9. Justin J. Council Chairman to Step Down, Avoid Any Conflict of Interest

Edward Pocock III will step down from his role as Town Council chairman after being promoted to police captain this week.

After serving Southington as the chairman of the Town Council since 2009, Edward Pocock III will be stepping aside from politics for a while to prevent any conflict of interest and focus on his new role as captain within the Southington Police Department. Pocock said in a brief telephone interview that the decision would become official later today when it is included on the agenda for the council’s Monday meeting. “For me, right now, it’s just the right thing to do,” Pocock said. He declined further comment due to work responsibilities, but said he would discuss the decision later today. John Dobbins, who currently serves as vice chairman of the council, said the decision was Pocock’s and he made it because he did not want any concerns …

Edward Pocock III should take 100% of the credit for things that he has accomplished as well as the many other things he started and will be completed in the next two years. Man Charge With Larceny in $2,500 Tool, Electronics Theft

The following arrest information was provided by the Southington Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Queen Street man is facing charges after police said he used his access to a West Center Street home to steal nearly $2,500 worth of tools and electronics last month. Officers took Tyler R. Michaud, of 410 Queen St. in Southington, into custody last week after he turned himself in on a warrant. He was charged with third-degree larceny and released after posting a $5,000 court set bond. The Southington Police Department also reported the following arrests: Alexander Raymond Paradis, 20, of 9 Zwicks Farm Road in Plantsville, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to sell and failure to maintain proper lane, May 1. 18-Year-Old Charged With Burglary After Being Caught in Barbara Lane Home

One resident was in the Barbara Lane home and a second arrived as he was attempting to steal a laptop, police said. The evidence eventually caught up with him.

A Blossom Way man is facing various charges including burglary and larceny after police said he broke into an occupied home and was later scared away when a second member of the family returned home that evening. Officers arrested Brandon P. Monteleone, 18, on Tuesday after he turned himself into police on a warrant. He was arraigned in Bristol Superior Court on charges of first-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief. According to court records, Monteleone remains in state custody in lieu of a $25,000 cash bond. Police said Wednesday that Monteleone was wanted in connection with an incident in that occurred at a Barbara Lane home on April 10. The police report indicated that a resident, who was upstairs in…

Man Charged as Getaway Driver in 2011 Webster Bank Robbery

Police said former Woodbury resident Todd Froehlich served as the getaway driver in an April 2011 robbery at the Queen Street bank.

It took a year to get the evidence they needed to make an arrest, but Southington detectives have found the man they said was responsible for serving as a getaway driver during a 2011 robbery at Webster Bank on Queen Street. Woodbury resident Todd Froehlich, 38, is facing charges including first-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit each after a police report said evidence showed he served as the getaway driver during an April 16, 2011, robbery at the 359 Queen St. bank. Froehlich, 38, immediately entered a not guilty plea to the charges after being served a warrant in New Britain Superior Court last week. He has elected to go to trial and fight the charges, as well as charges in connection with additional charges …
