Farmington Canal Trail
Mill Street, Southington, CT 06489
Southington is one of several Connecticut towns fortunate enough to host the Farmington Canal Trail, a Rails to TrailsMore project designed to provide a recreational trail that extends from New Haven into Massachusetts. The town opened the first portion of the trail through downtown Plantsville and Southington a few years ago and began construction on the southern part of the trail, which extends from Plantsville to the Cheshire line. This second part is scheduled to officially open in 2011. The last part of the trail, which extends through a brownfield current being cleaned to the Plainville line, is scheduled to be built and completed in 2015.
Kess' Cafe
11 W Main St, Plantsville, CT 06479

Kess' Cafe is located along historic and quaint Plantsville, on West Main, downtown. It's one of those restaurantsMore that is so brilliant, you can't believe it's in such an unassuming location. But here it is, and for the most part, it continues to receive adulation from the neighborhood and beyond. (There's been numerous write-ups in various papers.)

The food can be as eclectic as the interior furnishing -- however, it all works beautifully. Selections vary with the season, and perhaps the whim of the owner/chef, but can include entrees that feature rack of lamb, petite filet mignon with champagne sauce and sea scallops.

Check the Kess' Cafe website for the updated menus.
