The Southington Fire Department operates with just over 30 full-time firefighters and about 75 volunteers at fourMore locations. The department is responsible for services including fire prevention, fire suppression, code enforcement, rescues and emergency medical response. Headquarters is located along North Main Street and overlooks the Quinnipiac River. The station is also home to Engine Co. 1, one of four volunteer engines in Southington. The department is led be Fire Chief Harold L. Clark, who also serves as the town's fire marshal.

The department regularly works closely with Southington schools, police, fire and other youth agencies to help improve lives for today's children. The department is located in the Gura Building and is led by Director Susan Saucier.

Southington Community Services is located in the recently renovated former volunteer fire house along Route 10 inMore Plantsville and is the central office designed to help meet community needs in Southington. The department coordinates food, clothing and toy drives to provide materials for needy families; hosts an energy assistance for low-income households; assists those affected by emergencies and more. Southington Community Services also provides summer camp opportunities, assists with the operation of school-related programs such as Kristen's Closet or Smart Start and coordinates the operation of local shelters during emergencies as well as a eviction prevention program. Southington Community Services is led by director Janet Mellon.

The station does not operate on a full-time basis, but volunteers who work in the community will often man the station during busy periods and members also frequent the station during the evening hours.
