The library has several areas for recreational study as well as two floors of books and a collection that is constantly updated. The library is also a member of the ConnectiCard program and Connecticut Education Network which allow local residents to get books unavailable in Southington through other state libraries.</p> <p>The library is also charged with maintaining the Barnes Museum and operates with the assistance of Friends of the Library, a non-profit organization designed to enhance opportunities and resources available to residents. The library is run by Executive Director Sue Smayda. </p>
