ABOUT DAN
Email: daniel.deblasio@patch.com Phone: (203) 231-1171 Hometown: Southbury, CT Birthday: February 3 Bio: Dan DeBlasio was born the second of two children in Seymour, CT, where he lived until he was 10 years old. In fifth grade Dan moved to Southbury, CT and has lived there since. Dan attended Pomperaug Regional High School in Southbury, CT, and was a part of the 2006 graduating class. While in high school, Dan was very involved with community outreach and church organizations. He was also a four-year athlete and served as captain of the boy's soccer team. After high school Dan continued his education at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island, where he majored in journalism and minored in political science. College is where Dan discovered his love of media, serving as an editor for the university newspaper and co-host of a university radio show. While in college Dan completed several internships at media outlets in New York City, working for Sportsnet New York and covering the New York Yankees and New York Red Bulls, and in Providence working for WPRI covering the New England Patriots and Pawtucket Red Sox.  Dan was also an editing intern for Bleacher Report, an online publication. After graduating college in 2010 Dan began working as a fulltime staff writer for The Citizen's News in Naugatuck, CT. He covered news and sports in the towns of Naugatuck, Beacon Falls and Prospect. In addition to writing for the print publication Dan was a photographer and helped run the publication's website. Dan is very passionate about reporting accurate and balanced local news and prides himself on delivering informative and interesting news to the community.   He would love to hear your input and can be contacted at daniel.deblasio@patch.com Your Beliefs At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know. Politics How would you describe your political beliefs? I would classify myself as a moderate conservative. Politics are a growing interest of mine and I have followed them much closer in the past few years. I've had the privilege as a journalist to speak with senators and representatives in Hartford and Washington and have covered numerous political issues as well as several campaigns and debates.  I have also closely covered and appreciate local government. As a journalist I treat both sides of the aisle with visible and apparent equality and pride myself on balanced and factual reporting. Are you registered with a certain party? Yes, I am a registered Republican. Religion How religious would you consider yourself? I am a practicing Roman Catholic and enjoy learning about and writing about all religions.
